This past week marked the second in ION’s full rebuild of Online+ inside a new, AI-first development environment. The team’s focus was on authentication — the most security-critical part of any app — and by the end of the week, the complete registration and login system was rebuilt and in place. The core chat flow and feed foundations also moved forward, with UI implementation next on the agenda across all modules.
Beyond the build, the ION ecosystem had a strong week: a new VC partnership, the first $ION protocol burn going live, and Bao Trader’s second consecutive weekly buyback completing on schedule.
With the foundational work now behind us, the weeks ahead will move faster. Building in public is also making its return this week, so the community will be able to watch it all happen in real time.

This week marks our second week of rebuilding Online+ from the ground up in our new, AI-first environment. The focus was on laying the infrastructure that everything else gets built on top of.
Here’s what the team shipped:
- Authentication → The core auth system is now fully rebuilt, including identity restoration via Google Drive, iCloud, and recovery codes, passkey-based registration, and the complete onboarding flow. With the most security-critical piece of the rebuild now complete, the team can move forward on solid ground.
- Chat → The core chat flow has been rebuilt inside the new environment, ready for UI work as the team moves into the next phase.
- Feed → Feed navigation and NSFW detection too have been rebuilt, with UI implementation next on the agenda as development pace picks up.
⚡ Yuliia’s Take
“Lean and mean” is my summary of this past week. Though the update list might be short, the week certainly wasn’t.
Authentication is not a particularly snazzy, headline-friendly item, but it’s the most security-critical part of Online+ (and any app, really). This past week, we made sure every path a user might take to get into their account — passkey registration, identity restore via Google Drive, iCloud, or recovery codes, the full onboarding flow — is rebuilt correctly and holds up under pressure.
Auth is the first thing every user touches, and the thing that has to work every single time without exception. It’s all done and dusted now, and we’re on solid ground for everything that follows.
Chat and Feed also moved forward this week: the core chat flow and feed navigation are now in place, with NSFW detection integrated into the feed — all necessary groundwork before UI can go on top.
From here, the pace changes. We’re moving into the UI parts for Chat, Feed, Wallet, and Profile that users see and feel. In a nutshell, we’re getting into the phase where it all gets visible.

Burns, buybacks, a new VC partner, and building in public making its comeback — we had our hands full this past week.
Here’s what we’ve been busy with:

🔮 A semana que se segue
Work this week spans Feed, Chat, Wallet, and Profile, with the team building out core user flows across all four. The focus is on the essential UX first, with finer details and polish to follow as the build progresses.
It’s worth noting that tackling four modules in a single week is the kind of pace the AI-first environment makes possible. What would have taken over a month before is now a week’s work, and that’s before the team has fully hit its stride. Two weeks in, the team is finding its rhythm. It’s only going to accelerate from here.
